The Flock flew over the forest of Camp Half-Blood. The magical barrier had been shrinking downward and was barely above the treetops at this point. The flew until they caught sight of a girl. She was pale with black hair. On one accord, The Flock lunged at her, breaking through the barrier and shot waves of sharp feathers.

Amber heard some kind of bird shrieks up in the sky. Her eyes flew upward and saw a wave of feathers falling on her. She scrambled for cover, her dagger already out. She leaped to the side and rolled underneath the roof of one of the buildings. She felt a sharp sting in her left calf and tugged out a feather. A thin trickle of blood dripped from her cut. She ignored it and reached for her bow...Which she had forgotten at the Archery range. She cursed herself as another volley of feathers flew at her from the side.

The Flock flew done, but the closer to the girl they got, the more the barrier tried to prevent them. They started throwing more feathers to make up for the slow movements. Some feathers were sure to take out the girl and that's all the titans asked for. Take out one demigod and get out with as few casualties as possible.

Amber felt like a caged wild animal. For the first time her mind actually shut up and let her focus on the one thing necessary for the moment: Staying alive. She sped around the cabin as she heard another whistle of flying feathers. She just made it to the door of the archery range when another feather plunged deep into her calf, five inches above the first feather. She yanked it out, hoping that she didn't damage any muscles and then ran in, grabbed her bow, and began picking out the birds one by one.

The birds got ready for evasive manuevers, but they probably wouldn't need them. They were closing in on the girl and she couldn't do too much with a bow alone. She would need some backup, but there was noone around to help her.

As the birds sped toward Amber, she began to panic. Choking on her fear, she managed to pull out her dagger again. The birds weren't going to be fazed by arrows anymore. A dagger wouldn't help either. Then Amber got an idea. She ran back into the archery room and grabbed the long metal rod used for stoking the flames to make the arrow shafts. It was still red-hot.

The Flock gave chase and continued to fire their arrows. They weren't really shure what the girl was doing, but it was clear she was ready to die. She was going to.

Amber ran out the door with her red-hot rod. She began smacking the birds with it, trying to give them some burns. She didn't want to go down without a fight.

The burns only agitated them. Only celestial bronze or imperial gold could kill them. Burns only burned. They fought harder, trying to hurt the girl the way she was hurting them.

Amber knew she couldn't beat them with the metal rod. She ran quickly back inside and grabbed a metal bucket and filled it with red-hot embers. She ran outside and, although she burned herself, began throwing the embers at the birds. Some of them caught fire.

The burning birds sheded(?) all their burning feathers until they were nearly naked. The birds started to regrow feathers as soon as the other ones were gone. The other birds started to throw their feathers at the girl who just wouldn't accept defeat.

Amber rolled her eyes and screamed at the birds. "IDIOTS! JUST DIE!"She ran to the camp storage and grabbed a celestial bronze sword. "Finally". Bruised and bloody she began smacking the birds to dust.

Five of the birds turned to dust before they realized what was going on. They started flying away, but still shooting as many feathers at the girl as they could. She couldn't hold out forever.

Amber got her bow again and began shooting celestial bronze arrows. She was certain that she could win this time.

The birds were prepared and dodged each arrow. They shot feathers at her, but as usual they were pretty inacurate. One bird was able to send a feather straight toward Amber's head.
