Amber picked up her brushes. She selected a broad-bristled brush with a maroon handle. She hesitated over the color choices, before finally setting for sky blue. Amber separated the sky from the ground with the brush and painted a thick, sloppy line in the middle of it. It didn't matter anyways because she would paint over it. She began painting the entire top half sky blue. Then she took a deeper, more aqua blue and painted the bottom half, even though that was meant to be a landscape.

"Hey," Pamala said, "How come you're always where I am? Or maybe I'm just always where you are." They were always at the same place at the same time. It was getting a little weird.

"Haha. I don't know. Want to watch me paint? I think you can help me with some of the angles I'm missing". Amber began dotting little grass spots on the sad, dark blue bottom half of the canvas. She wanted to make something dramatic, unlike all the airy, simple paintings she had done before.

"I guess, but I have no ability whatsoever," Pamala said. Pamala sat down behind Amber and watched intently. She had no idea what was going on, but she was going to watch.

Amber began dabbing at the lower half with a dry sponge that had only the slightest speckles of green paint. Dry-brushing, she slowly covered the blue with a thin layer of green. The blue still managed to show through, which was exactly what Amber was hoping for. Amber then transferred paints to a lighter green, tinged with yellow. She dabbed at the sections that were meant to be dappled by the final rays of the setting sun. Amber then stroked a few trees in with quick, choppy movements using a thin brush. The color wasn't entirely black. Then came the sun, the rays just barely penetrating the trees and lighting up the exact spots that were meant to be lit. She washed the entire sky in a soft peach color, and made a soft sunset.

Pamala watched as Amber painted. She saw lots of art techniques she remembered from art class when she went to school. She saw a few that she had only seen muse kids use. Amber was a very talented painter. "It looks wonderful," Pamala said.

"Thanks. See any problems yet? I'm worried about that ray over there", Amber pointed to a ray of sunlight that didn't land exaclty on the spot where it should have. "If I'm not gonna learn to paint straight lines, I'm going to resort to using a ruler soon...", Amber said sarcastically. "Anyways, another thing over here: Should I add flowers in the patches of sunlight, or everywhere?"

"Well I can't draw a straight line anyway, but that ray gives the painting a cool effect. I think some small patches of flowers in a few other places would look very good, but I don't know that much. Well, unless you count pretty much everything I've ever heard," Pamala said.

"Well...maybe I can add some flowers here.", Amber pointed to the few patches closer to the trees. "I'm not sure about the ones further back. The sun wouldn't reach these as well. Or it would, but I should make these flowers a different breed. I think tulips and daffodils would be a nice combination back there, and maybe violets and morning glories back here, because this is where the sun rises." Amber took up her brush and began to paint in little flowers.

Pamala got a little confused when Amber started talking about flowers. She knew pretty much nothing about flowers. And she couldn't really figure out what Amber was talking about, but the picture was looking good. "That looks very good," Pamala said.

"Thanks. Well, I guess I'm done here...For now. I should let it dry. I don't want to smudge the grass. I like how I accidentally made that patch over there...it overlaps quite naturally. I love making those. Well...bye!" Amber rinsed her brushes and skipped out of the Arts and Crafts.

"Oh Well bye I guess," Pamala called after Amber. She walked out of the place that held absolutely nothing for her. She could never make anything of her own, she just liked to watch others make things.
